Portion of interstate rated in ‘good’ condition actually fell from 2015
The Kansas Department of Transportation touted in a news release the percentage of the state’s highway in at least good condition and declared success by exceeding quality performance targets.
However, Kansas Fact Meter finds portions of the statement from KDOT to be misleading.
KDOT interim Secretary Richard Carlson pointed to the agency’s internal quality analysis showing 96.7 percent of interstate highway in Kansas were ranked good in the fiscal year ending in July. The quantity of non-interstate highway perceived to be in good condition was 91.7 percent last fiscal year.
